Relighting the pilot on a gas log set.
Gas log sets have a standing pilot, and a draft, a power cut or a summer with the gas off can leave it out.
The controls sit behind the lower grille: a gas control knob marked off, pilot and on, and the igniter. Sam shows where they are on a typical set and the order they are used in.
Give it a few minutes with the gas off before you start, every time. That part is not optional and the video says so.
If the pilot will not hold after a couple of honest attempts, leave it off and call us. A pilot that lights and drops is usually a thermocouple, and that is ours to fix. Our service line is (616) 842-4500.
