Asked in the showroom
What is a fireplace insert, and is it worth the money?
An insert is a sealed heating unit built to fit inside an existing masonry fireplace, which turns an open fire into a real heat source. An open masonry fireplace pulls heated air out of the room and up the chimney. An insert stops that and puts the heat back into the room.
Are fireplace inserts safe?
Yes, when they are installed properly. A correct install is what gives you both the heat efficiency and the safety, which is why our own crew does the work rather than a subcontractor.
Can a fireplace be removed from a home?
Yes, and there is more than one way to do it. Some involve demolition and construction and some are far less invasive. Most people with an existing traditional fireplace upgrade to a gas insert instead, which reduces the draft up the masonry chimney.
What size fireplace do I need?
It depends on the fuel and on the firebox you already have. For an insert we measure the front width, back width, height and depth of the existing firebox. Bring those numbers, or let us come out and take them.
What is the best fireplace to buy?
That depends on how you want to use it, what fuel you have available, and what you want it to look like. There is no single best. Come to a showroom, tell us how you want to live with it, and we will narrow it down with you.
Does a fireplace add resale value?
It is generally treated as a strong return relative to its cost. We would rather you buy one because you want to sit in front of it, and treat the resale side as a bonus.
Want to see it in person?
Both showrooms carry this. Come in, or send a photo and we will start there.
