About Brick
Mankind has been making and building with brick almost since the beginning of humanity. Clay Brick was used in 8,000 B.C. in the construction of the town of Jericho, and was used by the Egyptians as well, in 2,000 B.C. when constructing the pyramids. Fast-forward a few few thousand years to our contemporary age and brick are still being manufactured much the same way today as of yesteryear. The clay is pressed into forms and set to dry in a kiln. It is then ready for use. Brick can come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and textures. It will increase the value of a structure, keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It is also cost-effective, reduces noise and has excellent curb appeal.

Installation
Brick installation starts with a simple foundation which is known as a brick ledge. The mason will apply a mortar bed to the foundation and begin constructing the wall. A good mason, along with the help of a tender may lay about 270 bricks in an hour. Of course, it’s not that simple, there are weeps, wall ties, mason blocks, twigs and mortar that will need to be utilized.

Thin Brick
This is a great concept, creating a three-dimensional look and easy to install. Thin brick can be added to any interior or exterior wall and is available in flats or corners. These outside corners will allow the mason to completely wrap a wall. Thin brick is affordable. It is generally priced the same as manufactured stone or less. Why not give it a try?
